The UKMi Conference Awards are presented annually to recognise the success and achievements of individuals or teams working in MI. These awards are an important opportunity for the MI community to showcase their outstanding achievements and to congratulate our peers.
The success of these awards relies on individuals from across pharmacy to nominate their colleagues. The nomination form below is quick and easy to complete, and you are welcome to nominate more than one person.
Nominations are invited for the following four categories:
✦
Rising Star in Medicines Information Award
This award celebrates a MI professional with fewer than 5 years’ experience who is already making a positive impact and a strong commitment to high-quality MI practice.
★
MI Team Excellence Award
This award recognises an MI team that has delivered exceptional service and demonstrated collective excellence, collaboration and innovation.
❖
MI Practitioner of the Year Award
This award celebrates a MI professional who has demonstrated consistent excellence, advanced clinical judgement and a strong commitment to improving MI services.
◆
Peter Golightly Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honours an individual who has made a sustained and exceptional contribution to MI over their career. Past winners can be viewed here.
The individual’s contribution to MI may have been recent or may have spanned many years, but in the latter case, at least part of this must have taken place in the last 12 months. The award is usually made to someone that is permanently based in Medicines Information, although this may only be part of their job.
You can nominate someone even if they have been nominated in the past. If you are considering making a nomination, but aren’t sure if someone is eligible, please get in touch with us at [email protected] to discuss further.
Nominations will be considered by an award panel, who will review these based on their relative merit. The winners will be presented with their award at the UKMi Conference. Runner-up awards may be announced at the same time.

The Peter Golightly Award is made annually to recognise the success and achievement of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician working in MI. This award is an important opportunity for the MI community to showcase outstanding achievements and to congratulate our peers.
Peter Golightly was at the forefront of MI since its inception in the 1970s and was Director of the (then) Trent Regional Medicines Information Centre from 1976 until his retirement in 2014. His passion for MI and his drive to implement and develop new services locally, regionally and nationally has helped shape the UKMi service that we have today.
