How Course Content Is Developed

The NMITC programme is continually reviewed to ensure that it remains relevant to the evolving needs of MI/MA services.

Course topics are informed by:

  • Feedback from previous participants.
  • Learning identified through ALERT reports and incidents.
  • Recommendations from the UKMi Executive and its subgroups.
  • Topics raised through the UKMi network and discussion forums.
  • Areas not routinely covered by other national training programmes.

The programme focuses on the professional knowledge, skills and systems required to deliver and manage MI/MA services. It is not intended to provide specialist clinical updates.

Course content is reviewed regularly by session leads and updated as required.

Accessing Course Materials

Course materials are hosted on the UKMi FutureNHS workspace:

https://future.nhs.uk/UKMedicinesInformation

Access is available to confirmed attendees only and requires registration with FutureNHS. Invitations to join the workspace will be sent once attendance has been confirmed. Participants will retain access throughout the course and for up to 3 months after completion.

The workspace includes:

  • Pre-session learning materials
  • Post-session resources and further development materials
  • Session recordings (where available)
  • Microsoft Teams meeting details
  • Tutor and facilitator contact details
  • A participant contact list for networking and collaboration

Pre-session learning materials will normally be available at least 2 weeks before the associated live session and should be completed beforehand to maximise the benefit of the interactive learning activities.

Live Interactive Sessions

The live sessions are a key part of the NMITC learning experience. They are designed to build on the pre-session learning through discussion, practical exercises, case studies and group activities.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all live sessions wherever possible, as they provide the opportunity to:

  • Engage directly with UKMi experts.
  • Explore practical MI/MA challenges.
  • Participate in workshops and breakout-room activities.
  • Discuss real-life scenarios with peers.
  • Learn from the experiences of colleagues across the UK.
  • Build a valuable professional network within the UKMi community.

Although recordings may be available after some sessions, they should be considered a supplementary learning resource rather than a substitute for active participation.

To gain the greatest benefit from the programme, participants are encouraged to arrange appropriate study leave or service cover and attend sessions from an environment that enables full engagement without interruption.

Session Arrangements

Live sessions are delivered via Microsoft Teams.

Once your place has been confirmed:

  • Microsoft Teams invitations will be sent by the course lead or session facilitator.
  • Participants should respond to all calendar invitations by accepting or declining them.
  • Attendees should have access to both a microphone and camera, particularly for breakout room activities and interactive sessions.
  • Active participation in discussions and group work is encouraged throughout the programme.

Fees, Payments and Cancellations

A valid Purchase Order is required for all course nominations.

Please note:

  • Only accepted applicants will be charged.
  • Purchase Orders relating to unsuccessful nominations will be deleted.
  • Full payment must be received before the course commences.
  • Cancellations made within 2 weeks of the course start date will incur the full course fee.

If you are unable to attend after your place has been confirmed, please contact the NMITC or MIATP course leads as soon as possible.

For course-related enquiries, please contact the course lead. Responses may take up to five working days.

To support learning and revision, some sessions will be recorded and made available to attendees after delivery.

By joining a recorded Microsoft Teams session, participants consent to the recording of audio, video and shared content.

If you have concerns about being recorded, please discuss these with the session host or course lead before attending.

Recordings will:

  • Initially be stored within Microsoft Teams.
  • Be uploaded to the FutureNHS workspace where available.
  • Remain accessible for up to 3 months after the course.
  • Be removed after this period.
